This timepiece is a classic example of Swiss haute horlogerie from the mid-20th century: an Omega Constellation "C-Shape" Chronometer in solid 18K yellow gold. It embodies the peak of Omega's design and technical prowess during its golden age.

This watch belongs to Omega's prestigious Constellation collection, first introduced in 1952. The Constellation line was reserved for Omega's most accurate and finely finished movements, all officially certified as chronometers. This particular model is often referred to by collectors as the "C-case" or "dog-leg" due to the distinctive shape of its lugs.

At its heart beats the renowned Omega Calibre 564, a self-winding (automatic) movement. This 24-jewel movement was a workhorse of its era, known for its robustness, reliability, and excellent timekeeping performance. It features a quick-set date function, allowing the date to be advanced independently of the time. Most importantly, this movement earned the coveted title of Chronometer, meaning it underwent and passed rigorous precision tests at an official institute, a testament to its superior accuracy. The caseback is adorned with the iconic Geneva Observatory medallion, depicting an observatory surrounded by eight stars.
