Ardic Agus - Transcription after Jusepe de Ribera

Ardic Agus (b. 1992) Transcription After Jusepe de Ribera (1591–1652) Oil on linen on panel 30 × 41 cm Signed by the artist, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity This work is a contemporary transcription inspired by Jusepe de Ribera’s dramatic compositions, painted by Ardic Agus using the traditional techniques of the 19th-century atelier masters. The artist remains faithful to the classical rigor of drawing and form while introducing a distinctly modern sensibility, particularly evident in the reimagined background, which is entirely invented. The result is a dialogue between past and present: a homage to the Baroque master filtered through a contemporary painter’s eye. Executed with oils on linen mounted on mdf, this painting embodies both material quality and durability. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, personally signed by the artist. Artist Bio Ardic Agus is a professional fine art painter trained in the classical tradition. He studied in Florence under Michael John Angel, a pupil of Pietro Annigoni, and later refined his skills with Jordi Diaz Alama at the Barcelona Academy of Art. His practice spans still life, portraiture, and en plein air painting, always rooted in the discipline of the atelier method while embracing a contemporary touch. Agus first came to international attention with his year-long painting expedition across Turkey, documenting the country’s most important ancient sites, a project later filmed and broadcast nationwide. He currently lives and works in Florence, Italy.
