Come funziona la sfera armillare e a cosa serviva:
Una sfera armillare è uno strumento astronomico utilizzato per modellare la sfera celeste e dimostrare il moto e la posizione degli astri. 
Caratteristiche e Funzionamento:
È composta da anelli, chiamati "armille", che rappresentano i principali circoli della sfera celeste, come l'equatore, l'eclittica, i meridiani e i circoli polari. 
Permetteva di calcolare eventi celesti, osservare il percorso del sole nel cielo, e determinare l'ora di sorgere e tramontare degli oggetti celesti in relazione al mezzogiorno solare locale. 

storia:
Fu inventata da Eratostene nel 255 a.C. e utilizzata sia come strumento didattico che come strumento di osservazione, ad esempio da Tolomeo.
