Russisch lakdoosje uit Palekh, een dorp in Rusland dat beroemd is om zijn traditioneel beschilderde lakwerk. Op het doosje staat de signatuur “Палех 1990” (Palekh 1990) en de naam van een kunstenaar, vermoedelijk “Kurbatov” (Курбатов), wat duidt op een authentiek stuk uit 1990. De Palekh-schilderstijl kenmerkt zich door fijn uitgevoerde sprookjesachtige en historische taferelen, vaak op een zwarte achtergrond met kleurrijke details en bladgoudaccenten. De binnenkant is traditioneel fel rood gelakt.
Het doosje is handgemaakt van papier-maché, en op de rand staat “Made in Russia”. Russische lakdoosjes uit Palekh zijn zeer verzamelwaardig door hun artistieke en culturele waarde. Dit exemplaar is voorzien van een diploma en een oud prijsetiket, wat duidt op een goede provenance.
