Antieke zilveren swaggerstick met embleem van de Irish Guards – Engeland, Birmingham 1904

Deze ceremoniële swaggerstick werd gedragen door officieren van de Irish Guards, een regiment opgericht in 1900 door koning Edward VII. De bolvormige knop is uitgevoerd in sterling zilver met gegraveerde rocailleversiering. Op de schacht is het embleem van de Irish Guards aangebracht: een achtpuntige ster van de Orde van St. Patrick met centraal een klaverblad en het devies “Quis Separabit” (“Wie zal ons scheiden”).

De zilvermontage is duidelijk gekeurd met het meesterteken SB, de lion passant voor sterling .925, het anker van de Birmingham Assay Office en de datumletter ‘e’, overeenkomend met het jaar 1904. De schacht is vervaardigd uit malacca, een geliefde houtsoort voor officiersswaggersticks, herkenbaar aan de warme honingbruine tint en karakteristieke spikkelstructuur.
