Franklin Mint – « Cartouche-Shaped Box » – 1989 – porcelaine et dorure

Édition réalisée par The Franklin Mint en 1989 dans la série Treasures of Tutankhamun, inspirée des objets funéraires découverts dans la tombe de Toutânkhamon (Vallée des Rois).

La pièce adopte la forme d’un cartouche égyptien, symbole protecteur entourant le nom du pharaon et garantissant son éternité. Ici, il est transformé en boîte décorative, écho moderne aux coffrets et récipients retrouvés dans la tombe royale, destinés à conserver des bijoux, amulettes ou onguents. Les faces sont ornées de figures hiératiques en relief, enrichies d’une dorure éclatante et d’émail bleu profond, tandis que les disques solaires rouges rappellent l’iconographie d’Hathor et de Rê, divinités protectrices du roi dans l’au-delà.

Réalisée en porcelaine fine, la boîte repose sur une base rectangulaire noire. Marquage sous la base : Cartouche-Shaped Box, 1989 The Franklin Mint, Crafted in Thailand.
