Staurothek-Ikone der Kreuzigung Christi mit kunstvoll gestaltetem Bronzekreuz

Bronzekreuz:
Auf dem Bronzekreuz ist ganz oben das Mandylion zu erkennen, darunter in kirchenslawisch "das nicht von Menschenhand gemachte Antlitz". Rechts und links davon zwei Engel mit verhüllten Händen mit der Inschrift "Engel des Herrn" und "Zar der Ehren".

Im langen Querbalken links die Sonne, rechts der Mond, welche sich nach der Darstellung der Bibel bei der Kreuzigung verfinsterten.

Auf dem inneren Kreuz im Heiligenschein steht "Sohn Gottes", darüber die Abkürzung für "Jesos Christos".

Rechts und links von Jesus sieht man Lanze und Stab mit Essigschwamm, dabei steht "das Kreuz siegt".

Der Schrägbalken zeigt die Stadt Jerusalem, der Kreuzfuß trägt die Inschrift "Die Schädelstätte wird zum Paradies" und "Golgatha". 

Unten ist der Schädel Adams zu erkennen, ein Hinweis auf das Feld Golgatha, wo Adam bestattet sein soll.


Malerei:
Links vom Kreuz die Gottesmutter, Martha und Maria Magdalena; rechts davon Johannes und der Hauptmann Longinus in seiner prächtigen Rüstung.

Randheilige: links zwei orthodoxe Heilige, rechts Maria von Ägypten und ein weiterer orthodoxer Heiliger.


Ikone: Holz, vertieftes Mittelfeld, Levkas, Eitempera
Kreuz: Bronzeguss mit dunkelblauer und helltürkiser Emaille-Einlage

Guter Erhaltungszustand, Farbabplatzungen, beide Sponkis erhalten, fast keine Wölbung
Datierung: Ikone ~ 1800, das Kreuz ist noch älter


Diese Ikone ist Teil einer großen gepflegten Privatsammlung seit den 1980er Jahren mit über 70 Stücken aus Russland und Griechenland. Alle Ikonen wurden professionell aufbereitet (gereinigt etc.) und detailliert dokumentiert.
