Questo single malt whisky è composto esclusivamente da malti in botti di sherry, scelti tra i malti che creano il sapore del marchio Yamazaki. Jim Murray, autore del libro, definisce Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 "un genio quasi indescrivibile" e ne elogia il "naso di squisita audacia" e il finale di "spezie leggere e stuzzicanti".

I whisky Yamazaki di Suntory sono prodotti nella più antica distilleria del Giappone. Costruita nel 1923, la distilleria Yamazaki fu creata dal fondatore di Suntory, Shinjiro Torii. Situata alla periferia di Kyoto, l'acqua è considerata tra le più pure e dolci del Giappone. Era desideroso di creare un whisky giapponese perfetto che riflettesse la natura del Giappone e lo spirito dell'artigianato giapponese.
