Lot of 3 Sasanian Silver (AR) Drachms A group of three silver drachms from the Sasanian Empire, spanning from the late 3rd to early 7th centuries AD. Each coin features the distinctive bust of the reigning monarch on the obverse and a fire altar scene on the reverse, a hallmark of Sasanian coinage. ________________________________________ 1. Bahram II (AD 274–293) AR Drachm. Weight: 3.34 g | Diameter: 24 mm Obverse: Bust of Bahram II right, wearing winged crown with korymbos (globe) and ribbons. Reverse: Fire altar with two attendants; flames rising from altar. Reference: Sellwood Type I; Göbl I/1. Note: An early and iconic type of Bahram II with strong royal portraiture. ________________________________________ 2. Shapur II (AD 309–379) AR Drachm. Mint XII (possibly Kabul). Weight: 3.51 g | Diameter: 24 mm Obverse: Bust of Shapur II right, wearing mural crown with stepped crenellations and korymbos. Reverse: Fire altar with attendants and ribbons; bust of Ahura Mazda emerging right from altar flames. References: Göbl Ia/6a; Sunrise 848.
