A propos du photographe: 
Slim Aarons, de son vrai nom Georges Allen Aarons, s'engage dans l'armée américaine à 18 ans. || devient photographe à l'Académie militaire de West Point, puis reporter pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. À propos de sa participation au conflit, qui lui vaut néanmoins une médaille d'honneur, Aarons dit simplement que la seule plage qui mérite d'être accostée est celle ornée de ravissantes jeunes filles à moitié nues, se prélassant paisiblement au soleil. De 1950 à 1980, il devient photographe de la jet-set et se consacre à la représentation du glamour et du luxe hollywoodiens. Ses photos sont exclusivement des célébrités, photographiées dans des décors luxueux, souvent autour d'une piscine chez elles. Il construit sa carrière en photographiant uniquement des personnes attirantes faisant des choses attirantes dans des endroits attirants. En 2002, il déclare au journal The Independent : « Je connaissais tout le monde, ils m'invitaient à leurs fêtes car ils savaient que je ne leur ferais aucun mal.
