This is a rare signed silver gelatin photographic print from the photographer Philip Townsend who took many remarkable documentary photographs and captured classic scenes of the sixties in London and beyond often recording key cultural moments at a rapidly changing time.   This print features the actor Susannah York in a classic street and mod scene with a boy on a moped. 

This print measures 40.4cm x 50.4cm while the image measures 35.3cm x 35.3cm and is signed and numbered by Philip Townsend in ink from the edition of 50. The print is also Philip Townsend blindstamped to the lower left. The print is in very good condition with minor wear and the remnants of tape along the top edge verso from previous framing (please see photos).

Philip Townsend's work is held in the V&A and the National Portrait Gallery, where it was included in the Beatles to Bowie exhibition in 2010. An exhibition of his work titled Mister Sixties, was held at the Lowry gallery, Salford, in 2010 and he has also exhibited at many other galleries including Somerset House and the Saatchi Gallery. In 2009 he was awarded an honorary degree by Arts University Bournemouth.
