PIXA - "The Painted Hashmask #05 Unmasking the Digital" | acrylic on canvas XXL

The Painted Hashmask – Unmasking the Digital #05 This painting is part of my series The Painted Hashmask – Unmasking the Digital, inspired by the legendary NFT project Hashmasks. The masked figure is used only as a rough starting point; the composition then evolves through gestural brushwork and strong colour contrasts. The result is a one-of-a-kind artwork that translates a digital archetype into the physical reality of canvas. The original NFT figure only serves as a minimal structural reference (outline and posture). From there, I develop the work freely through bold brushwork, colour variations, and spontaneous expression. My goal is not to reproduce the NFT image, but to reinterpret it — transforming digital anonymity into a tangible, unique artwork. This series bridges blockchain culture and traditional fine art, turning algorithmic avatars into emotional, physical presence on canvas. Acrylic on canvas (unstretched, shipped rolled) Expressionism / contemporary Unique work, signed on the back The total canvas size is 140 × 110 cm. It can be mounted on a stretcher frame for an optimal size of 130 × 100 cm. ------------------------------- Medium: Acrylic on canvas Year: 2025 Condition: Excellent Signature: Signed on the back Shipping: Delivered rolled, without stretcher frame Provenance: Direct from the artist's studio in Berlin Tracking number provided. His works merge action painting, tribal symbolism, and urban influences, creating a language that is both powerful and direct. Each canvas is painted with urgency and energy, often populated by mask-like figures, vibrant gestures, and explosive color fields. Mostly self-taught, Pixa studied painting with Suzanne Obrecht in Strasbourg and later with Frank Pieperhoff at Kunstgut Berlin. His background as a freelance graphic designer sharpened his visual sense and gave him the freedom to develop a highly personal and experimental approach. His paintings blur the boundaries between abstraction and figuration, rooted in the spirit of abstract expressionism while remaining unmistakably his own. Pixa’s career spans over two decades, with exhibitions across France and Germany. Highlights include St’art Strasbourg (2001), Galerie Rendez-Vous (2004), and Ateliers Ouverts (2003, 2006). In Germany, he participated in Kunst in Betrieb (Halle, 2009), Kunstgut Berlin (2010), and the 48 Stunden Neukölln festival (2011–2012). His work has also been presented at Deutsche Bank’s Macht Kunst (Berlin, 2013), Galerie Marc Geiler (2007–2008), and Sigmund Freud University Berlin (2014–2015). Today, Etienne Pixa’s paintings are part of private collections across Europe and beyond. Collectors are drawn to his uncompromising energy and the way his works capture both chaos and harmony, reflecting his cross-cultural identity and relentless creative drive.
