This beautifully preserved ancient coin, over 2,400 years old, exemplifies the remarkable craftsmanship of Phoenician artistry in a compact form. Some ancient test cuts on the edge , adding to the piece ancient identity. Obverse: Phoenician galley sailing, with the letter ("Beth") above and waves below. Reverse: Depiction of a Persian king or hero wielding a dagger in combat with a lion, with the symbol "O" , between them. Catalog Reference: HGC 10, 240. Provenance: Ex Danish private collection, acquired before 1990. Please note that the images are highly magnified; the coin appears even more attractive in person.
