200,000 spectators watch the extraordinary 'last road race' that was the Grand Prix at Pescara. The race, which was the only Formula One World Championship race at the track, was held at the longest ever circuit to stage a Formula One World Championship Grand Prix at 25.8 km (16 miles) long. 

Stirling Moss, who knew the course from previous visits cleverly stayed in a hotel out of town, and was not kept awake by the fireworks and party in Pescara the night before the race. He won in the fast Vanwall, it was the last GP to be held on open public roads.
