Genuine antique handmade wool Afghan Ersari rug circa 1880 measuring 235 x 185 cm ( 7.7 c 6 ft ). Rows of bold Gul motifs each decorated with geometric objects in lovely Rusty background field. Ersari tribes mainly inhabited in the North Afghanistan and Southern Turkmenistan and were producing some of the finest tribal pieces in the regions which also included Tekke tribes. Although their designs are very similar to the Afghan main carpets however their fine weaves and choose of very specific colours made them in much higher demand. This Ersari rug is from that category with quality weave and lovely rusty colours having some shades of abrash where the dyed wool became richer in tone!
