Mark Bodé (1963) - Let’s Form A Line (original drawing)

If you are based in the Paris region, you can pick up the artwork directly from our gallery located in the 11th arrondissement. Otherwise, we ship worldwide. Our works are carefully packaged, protected, and shipped with tracking and insurance. — In this drawing, we observe the classic iconography that made Vaughn Bodé, the father of Mark Bodé, famous, notably featuring the iconic Cheech Wizard who greatly influenced American graffiti, as well as the Lizard character. In this comic strip panel, the Lizard plays the role of the jester, acting as a social catalyst. People line up to take out their frustrations on him, an action costing just 5 cents. Here, we see the anti-establishment spirit characteristic of the underground artist, along with a unique style passed down from father to son. A true piece of history. This painting was acquired in the ‘Erotic World’ exhibition of Vaughn and Mark Bodé curated by Adda Gallery and Taxie Gallery in 2015 in Paris, and comes with a certificate of authenticity issued by both galleries and signed by the artist. • Original, unique artwork • 27,9 x 35,6 (22 × 31 cm visible ; 36 × 45 x 1.7 cm framed) • Hand-signed and dated in the bottom right corner on the front • Comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist Son of underground comic legend Vaughn Bodé (who passed away in 1975), Mark Bodé has carried on his father's legacy by completing some of his unfinished works. Born in 1963, Mark Bodé also practices tattooing alongside his studio work and is active in graffiti. Tragically, he discovered his father’s body at the age of twelve. Despite, or perhaps because of, this trauma, he decided to become an artist and continue this legacy. Texts and photos copyright Galerie CHENUS LONGHI.
