Two metal planes from the Soviet era, manufactured at the RPD (Rybinsk Instrument-Making Plant). The product belongs to a series of tools modelled on classic English and German hand planes from the mid-20th century.
The body is made of solid cast iron with a wide base and an adjustable blade secured with a metal clamping plate and a plastic adjustment screw. The handles are made of dark burgundy phenolic resin (bakelite), a material characteristic of Soviet tools of the post-war period.These tools are not only practical but also have collector's value as examples of Soviet industrial design, reflecting the era of the 1960s and 1970s.
