lors du retour de Napoléon de la campagne d'Egypte, la France connait un engouement pour le style oriental 
Cette pièce représente parfaitement l'amalgame qui fut fait entre orient et antiquités puis que le sujet s'inspire fortement des postures et critères de beautés de la Grèce antique dans un sujet égyptien
les 3 têtes ne sont pas sans rappeler les 3 grâces.
Outre la qualité de cet objet c'est aussi un reflet de l'imaginaire européen de la fin du XVIIIème siecle  sur le monde oriental
