Daniel Sherrin (1868-1940) - A Highland stream at dusk

I am offering for auction a superb early 20th century oil on canvas of a highland stream, by celebrated and prolific artist Daniel Sherrin, 1868-1940. Signed bottom right The painting measures 75.5 x 50 cm. The frame is 97 x 71 cm. Condition of the painting is fairly good. Please view all photos for accurate condition. Some craquelure. Some varnish staining. Frame has some light wear. Ready to hang. Daniel Sherrin was an accomplished British painter of landscapes and maritime subjects. He spent the majority of his life in Seasalter, near Whitstable in Kent, where he became a local celebrity of repute. He had a skill for composition and often used tree-lined paths to guide the eye towards distant vanishing points. And like Benjamin Leader, his more successful pieces feature saturated, rutted, cart tracks and shimmering pools of rainwater. Please note. Due to the fragile nature of old frames and glass, our shippers do not provide insurance for any damage caused during transit. We go to great lengths to ensure each painting is packed and protected to a very high standard but sadly cannot compensate or refund for any damage occurring to frames or glass during transit. Therefore the frame and any glass is a gift to you with zero value and you are bidding on the artwork only. Due to Brexit, there are delays at EU customs borders though the situation is improving. Please do not blame me for delays or any customs duty payable. I really appreciate your understanding and patience. Steve.
