On retrouve peu d'art figuratif en Afrique de l'Est du fait de l'islamisation de la région. Les sculpteurs ont de ce fait conçu des objets usuels très réputés pour leur
 variété et leur allure sobre et contemporaine, en particulier les appuie-nuques et repose-têtes.

Celui-ci, en bois léger, est constitué d'une assise incurvée soutenue par trois pieds. On retrouve aux extrémités de l'assise des représentations animales. Des petits clous en laiton décorent la pièce
