Pendule lyre en bronze ciselé et doré, d’époque Louis XVI

Élégante pendule lyre en bronze finement ciselé et doré, typique du goût néoclassique qui s’épanouit sous le règne de Louis XVI. D’une grande pureté de ligne, elle adopte la forme d’une lyre, symbole d’harmonie et d’équilibre, surmontée d’un masque d’Apollon rayonnant, dieu des arts et de la lumière.

Inspirée de l’Antiquité particulièrement grâce aux découvertes des ruines d’Herculanum (1738) et de Pompéi (1748). La diffusion des éléments décoratifs découverts conduira à l’élaboration de la pendule du modèle de la lyre au milieu du XVIIIᵉ siècle. Notre pendule reprend avec élégance la forme de cet instrument joué durant la Grèce antique.

Le cadran circulaire émaillé blanc, orné d’aiguilles ajourées, indique les heures en chiffres arabes. Il s’inscrit avec délicatesse dans la monture ajourée, rythmée de cordes figurées et flanquée de têtes d’aigle aux becs fièrement recourbés.

Reposant sur un socle ovale en marbre blanc ceint d’une fine frise perlée et soutenu par quatre pieds toupie, l’ensemble séduit par la qualité de sa dorure, la précision de son modelé et l’équilibre de sa composition.

Par son élégance sobre et la finesse de son exécution, cette pendule incarne toute la grâce du style Louis XVI, entre rigueur architecturale et inspiration mythologique. Véritable pièce de collection, elle illustre le génie décoratif des bronziers parisiens de la fin du XVIIIᵉ siècle.
