Stefano Balma - Elemental

"Elemental" is a shot from my local project "Sati Vana," a personal interpretation of the Beigua Natural Park as a place of introspection and transformation. Located between sea and mountains, the territory is characterized by vast beech forests often shrouded in fog, creating an atmosphere suspended between dream and wakefulness. "Sati Vana," which in Buddhist tradition means "forest of awareness," offers us a space for inquiry to recognize what manifests within and around us, as part of a single reality in constant transformation. You can discover the entire project on my website. The print is produced in 42 x 29.7cm format (A3) on Hahnemühle Museum Etching paper, a premium fine art paper that ensures extraordinary detail and long-term preservation. It includes a 3cm white passepartout and is printed in my studio using a Canon Pro-1000 professional printer with Lucia Pro inks, ensuring maximum color fidelity. This photograph is part of a limited edition of 30 copies, available from copy 1/30, printed in June 2025, created in May 2025. Each piece is personally printed, numbered and signed, ensuring not only high quality but also a deep connection between the creative process and the final work. A Hahnemühle certificate of authenticity with a holographic seal is included. For the best viewing experience, I recommend placing the artwork under a cool light source (5500K) or in a well-lit space. Available in other sizes. ABOUT ME My name is Stefano Balma and I am a landscape photographer from Genoa, Italy, in 1988. In every phase of my life I have dedicated myself to some form of art, first with drawing, then with music and in 2019 I encountered photography, on the occasion of my first great trip in Morocco. Nature has always been my main subject, but over the years I have tried to include more introspective themes in my shots, which have always been very important in my life. Attending a Buddhist community in the area, I developed a particular sensitivity towards themes such as impermanence and the flow of existence, which I have progressively tried to represent through rocks eroded by wind, the mutability of arctic landscapes and the movement of the trees. Since 2023 I've started collaborations with FotoCorsi school as a tutor for photographic trips, and with the Cinque Rosso gallery for the sale of my shots. EXPOSURES - 2023, Fiera dell'accoglienza di Rimini (Hospitality Fair, Rimini, Italy) - 2024, Lezar House, Barcellona (Spain) - Collective exhibition -2025, Montanari optics, Genova (Italy) - Solo exhibition -2025, Salotto 42, Rome (Italy) - Collective exhibition AWARDS & RECOGNITION - Honorable Mention at the Tokyo International Foto Awards (2022) - Honorable Mention at the International Photography Awards (2022) - Top 35 in the landscape category of the 35AWARDS (2022) - Second place at the Fine Art Photography Awards, professional category (2023) - Third prize at the Prix de la Photographie de Paris (2023) - Honorable Mention at the Fine Art Awards (2025) PUBLICATIONS - 2025 March, published on Elements Photo magazine - 2025 July, published on Fotocult
