Seiko - 5 ACTUS SS Dial with "Peony Snow"(“Botan-yuki”) by Shōen Uemura - No Reserve Price - 6106-7510 - Men - 1972
【Description】
This is the Seiko 5 Actus SS Ref. 6106-7510, an automatic model manufactured in November 1972.
The dial features the masterpiece “Botan-yuki” (Peony Snow) by Uemura Shoen, one of Japan’s most celebrated painters of bijin-ga (portraits of beautiful women). The image of a graceful woman standing quietly amid falling snow is rendered in delicate tones, capturing both serenity and refined beauty.
The term “Botan-yuki” refers to large, soft snowflakes that fall gently like peony petals. In traditional Japanese aesthetics, it symbolizes the beauty found within transience—a poetic expression of elegance, stillness, and fleeting grace. Shoen’s depiction embodies these ideals through a poised female figure who radiates inner strength and quiet dignity. This exquisite dial brings that spirit of winter tranquility to life, making it a true fusion of Japanese art and vintage Seiko craftsmanship.
This ukiyo-e custom model was originally handcrafted by skilled watchmakers as part of experimental production for technical refinement, with each dial created individually. Every piece bears a unique expression that modern mass production could never replicate. Depending on the light, the dial subtly changes its hue, offering the impression of wearing a miniature painting on the wrist.
The watch was professionally overhauled by an experienced watchmaker in October 2025, ensuring reliable operation. The glass crystal has been replaced with a brand-new genuine Seiko part, maintaining excellent clarity and functionality. It features a hacking function (the seconds hand stops when the crown is pulled out) and a quick-set calendar, where a light push of the crown changes the date and a deep push changes the day.
It comes with the original stainless steel bracelet, preserving its authenticity and collector’s value. Please note that the wrist circumference is approximately 16 cm, which may be slightly short depending on your wrist size. Strap replacement is recommended if needed.
