He studied at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague and privately under Vincenc Beneš. He taught in Rokycany and later worked as a professor in the Department of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Education in Plzeň, which he eventually led (appointed associate professor in 1962). In his artistic work, he focused on landscape and still life painting, depicting industrial landscapes as well as the regions of Plzeň and Rokycany. His theoretical work primarily concentrated on the art history of Plzeň and the West Bohemian region. He was the author of educational texts and publications on artistic topics and contributed articles to magazines and newspapers. In 1944, he held a solo exhibition in Rokycany and another in Plzeň in 1947. He also participated in group exhibitions with West Bohemian artists, including in Prešov in 1976 (an exhibition of Plzeň artists) and Prague in 1977 (an exhibition of West Bohemian artists). His works are included in the collection of the West Bohemian Gallery in Plzeň.

Václav Vodák (August 16, 1914, in Plzeň – November 18, 1976, in Rokycany) was a painter, educator, and publicist.
