You are bidding on a very fine 4/4 italian violin, labeled Raffaele ed Antonio Gagliano quodam Giovanni Napoli 1856. The instrument was restored and ready to play with grafted scroll, new fingerboard, new ebony set up and new bridge. There are some small professional repaired cracks on top. No cracks under the bridge. 
The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of narrow flamed maple wood with matched sides. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The whole length of the violin is 589 mm and the back 357 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 201 mm. The sound is very deep, rich, warm and powerful. Don't hesitate to contact me for any questions.
