This is a complete mid-century psychology testing collection featuring two of the most iconic diagnostic tools in modern psychological history: the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS, 1955 edition) and the Rorschach Inkblot Test.

All items originate from the Department of Psychology, Appalachian State Teachers College (North Carolina, USA) — the former name of today’s Appalachian State University — as indicated by original institutional markings inside the case and on several boxes.

A rare, fully preserved teaching and research collection that reflects the practice of academic psychology in the mid-20th century.

Complete 10-plate Rorschach set in publisher’s box (Psychodiagnostik / Psychodiagnostics)

Plates clean, colors vivid, light age toning

Missing manual (commonly separated)

Excellent vintage condition overall.
Light age-related wear to boxes and paper edges, consistent with age and academic use.
Stopwatch operational.
All components present and historically consistent with the 1955 WAIS early edition (9-block variant).
No restoration or replacements.

Provenance

Legally acquired from an estate auction in North Carolina.
Previously owned and used by the Department of Psychology, Appalachian State Teachers College (active under that name until 1967).
This provenance is verified by stamped markings and matching departmental sets (WAIS + Rorschach).
