 Unsere Samarkand-Teppiche haben ihren Namen von einem traditionellen Handelsplatz im Orient - der Stadt Samarkand in Usbekistan. Samarkand Teppiche wurden im späten 19. Jahrhundert von der renommierten Schweizer Handelsfamilie Ziegler hergestellt. Aufgrund der politischen Unruhen des Persischen Reiches und der starken Nachfrage aus dem Westen nach Teppichen beschloss Ziegler, eine eigene Produktion in Sultanabad, Pakistan, aufzubauen und einige der besten Teppichweber einzustellen, um dieser wachsenden Nachfrage gerecht zu werden. Samarkand-Teppiche werden in feinster Handarbeit mit ca. 350.000 Knoten / m2 geknüpft und versprechen eine sehr hohe Qualität. 
  
 Heute stehen Samarkand-Teppiche für außergewöhnliche Qualität und moderne, orientalisch angehauchte Muster. Die Teppiche beziehen ihre Inspiration aus dem klassischen Perserteppich-Design. Die verwendete Wolle ist von hoher Qualität und die aus natürlichen Pflanzenfarben bestehende Farbpalette ist weicher und subtiler als die von Perserteppichen. Der kürzere Flor macht es einfach, den Teppich sauber zu halten.
