Gerard Boersma is known for his paintings of people in museums looking at famous paintings. This painting of 60 x 30 cm shows a woman enjoying a painting by August Macke. He was a key figure in German Expressionism and a leader of the Der Blaue Reiter group. Macke was known for his experimental use of color and form to express emotion rather than just reality. Tragically, his promising career was cut short when he was killed at the age of 27 in World War I in 1914. The work dates from 2025 and is made with acrylic on panel.
