Bronze Age Bronze Arrowhead (No Reserve Price)

A fine Bronze Age cast bronze arrowhead, featuring a triangular blade and a prominent central midrib. The blade descends into a short cylindrical stem, leading to a long and narrow tang. The blade presents with short but sharp barbs, though one has chipped and is now missing. A lovely patina and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with age, such as chips to the edges of the blade and one shoulder, scratches, and surface roughness. Minor chip to the tip. In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites settled in the Western Asiatic region. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of these bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Most of these bronze items have been recovered in funerary contexts. Measurements: (circa) L 14.9cm x W 2.7cm Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
