Auer collection, page 353 BETTER AND FRESHER THAN USUAL. SCARCE. "Tore Yngve Johnson, born January 8, 1928, in France, and died May 14, 1980, in the Maria Magdalena parish in Stockholm, was a Swedish photographer. He was a member of the group Tio fotografer ("Ten Photographers") and the son of Eyvind Johnson. In 1948, he worked as an assistant to K.W. Gullers and for a short time to Sten Didrik Bellander. From 1948 onward, he worked as a freelance photographer, taking assignments for, among others, the magazine Vi. Johnson was one of the participants in the exhibition "Young Photographers" in 1949 in Stockholm. He spent several years around 1950 living in Paris together with fellow Swedish photographers—an experience that came to strongly influence his future style. During the 1950s and 1960s, he carried out photographic assignments for the then Stockholm City Street Office, where he documented the office’s work. Tore Johnson became best known for his realistic yet poetic images of urban environments and people, both in Sweden and abroad, including in Congo, the USA, France, and the Arctic region. Since 2002, his archive has been part of the collections at the Nordic Museum. Tore Johnson also appears on the cover of Imperiet's compilation LP Live/Studio from 1988, featuring the photograph “Strippan” Finnerödja from 1956, as well as six images on the back cover from the same series. He is buried in the memorial grove at Skogskyrkogården in Stockholm." (Wikipedia) Raben & Sjogren, Stockholm. 1954. First edition, first printing.
