Riccardo Mannelli
Nato a Pistoia il 20 gennaio 1955, Riccardo Mannelli è un artista, pittore e illustratore italiano di grande spessore, noto per il suo stile incisivo e per la capacità di cogliere la realtà con disegni che spaziano dalla satira al reportage. Vive e lavora a Roma dal 1977.

La sua carriera artistica prese il via grazie all’incontro con Emilio Isca, fondatore della rivista satirica Help, per la quale realizzò alcuni disegni, segnando così l’inizio della sua lunga collaborazione con il mondo della stampa e della satira. Durante il servizio militare a Pisa, nel 1980, pubblicò sotto lo pseudonimo di Folgore, entrando ulteriormente nel mondo del disegno e del reportage illustrato.

Da quel momento, Mannelli ha collaborato con numerose testate italiane e internazionali. Ha realizzato reportage illustrati per quotidiani come La Repubblica e Cuore, e ha lavorato per alcune delle riviste satiriche e a fumetti più importanti, tra cui Il Male, Cuore, Boxer, Linus e Alter Linus. La sua attività lo ha portato anche in prima linea nei luoghi di conflitto: ha vissuto per alcuni mesi in Nicaragua nel periodo della rivoluzione sandinista (1982-83), documentando le tragedie dei teatri di guerra. Disegnava in diretta a penna su taccuini con una  rapidità e ricchezza di dettagli unica, riproducendo fedelmente volti, scene, particolari.

Mannelli ha anche intrapreso una ricerca personale nel campo della pittura e dell’illustrazione. Le sue opere, caratterizzate da un forte impatto visivo e una tecnica ricercata, sono state esposte in numerose mostre, sia in Italia sia all'estero. Tra i suoi progetti più noti, si ricordano iniziative come il fregio virtuale “Apoteosi dei corrotti”, proiettato sulla parete dell’Ara Pacis a Roma, e la partecipazione alla 54ª Biennale di Venezia.
In riconoscimento della sua attività, ha ricevuto vari premi, tra cui il Premio Forte dei Marmi per la Satira Politica, consolidando la sua posizione di riferimento nell’illustrazione e nel fumetto.

Attualmente, Riccardo Mannelli insegna Disegno dal vero e Anatomia all’Istituto Europeo del Design, contribuendo alla formazione di nuove generazioni di artisti. Il suo impegno nel campo dell’arte e della cultura si estende anche a progetti editoriali, come la raccolta delle sue opere satiriche, che testimoniano una carriera lunga e variegata.

Riccardo Mannelli è dunque riconosciuto non solo per la sua abilità tecnica e la sua visione artistica, ma anche per il coraggio di affrontare tematiche sociali e politiche attraverso il disegno. La sua opera, sempre in evoluzione, continua a influenzare il panorama dell’illustrazione italiana, restando fedele a quella “verità nuda e cruda” che da sempre caratterizza il suo lavoro.
