A Victorian rosewood sewing box dating from around 1850-1870 and notably with mother of pearl inlays with one minor loss - front right, top - otherwise complete and in good condition and with a beautiful patina. The box has a key which fits but does not work the lock. Inside a lift out tray, compartmentalised with a silvered base and lifting out to reveal a void beneath with silvered sides. The tray has two lidded compartments with padded silk purple tops and other compartments finished in the same style. The inside lid has rushed white silk and purple silk covering, this does not open, it is fixed in place. Some minor marks and repairs to the interior but generally in good condition.
