Signed; Kishin Shinoyama - The People by Kishin - 2012

This is a collection of works by Kishin Shinoyama, one of Japan’s most representative post-war photographers, titled ‘Kishin Shinoyama: The Power of Photography / The People by Kishin (Signed)’. This book is a catalogue of photographs published in conjunction with an exhibition of the same name held at four museums in Japan (Tokyo, Niigata, Hiroshima, and Kumamoto) between 2012 and 2013. Spanning nearly 50 years from the 1960s to around 2010, the collection is curated around the theme of ‘People’, featuring portraits of prominent figures that evoke the spirit of their respective eras. There was a time when Araki Nobuyoshi was known for eroticism, Moriyama Daido for art, and Kishin Shinoyama for commercial photography. While Shinoyama is famous for his nude works of actresses such as Miyazawa Rie, Higuchi Kanako, and Takakura Saki, his artistic merit as a master of commercial photography is also highly regarded. Yutani Katsumi, who designed many of Araki Nobuyoshi’s photo book collections, stated in his own book ‘Power Designing’ (1984) that Shinoyama Kishin’s ‘A Fine Day’ is the textbook of photo books. First edition, first printing. No dust jacket. Signed by the photographer. Shipping Method We ship via Japan Post, DHL, or FedEx. International Buyers: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping costs. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Check with your country’s customs office to determine these additional costs before bidding/buying. These duties are paid to your customs office, not us. Prompt payment ensures item delivery.
