Belgian Steamer Trunk by P. Coessens, Brussels – Early 20th Century

Wood and metal travel trunk produced by P. Coessens, Bruxelles, located at 10 Rue de Bon Secours, dating from the early 1900s.
Crafted with a curved wooden lid, reinforced with blackened iron bands and rivets, and fitted with original brass hardware and leather side handles. The lock plate is clearly stamped with the maker’s mark. The interior shows its original structure, now in white paint with an orange fabric-lined lid.

This trunk was likely used for continental or maritime travel, representing the craftsmanship of early Belgian luggage makers active in Brussels before mid-century industrial standardization. The construction quality and complete fittings confirm it as an authentic period piece rather than a reproduction.

Visible surface wear, leather cracking, and patina are consistent with age and use, contributing to its historical character. Structurally solid and suitable for decorative or storage purposes.
