2009 Mouchão - Alentejo DOC - 3 Bottles (0.75L)

This is Herdade do Mouchão's most emblematic wine, created primarily with the Alicante Bouschet grape variety, which has found unique characteristics in this terroir that give it a distinctive character. After fermentation in stone presses, it ages in Portuguese oak and mahogany barrels for at least four years, enhancing its intensity, character, and robustness. It then undergoes a further aging of at least 18 months in the bottle. Deep and concentrated in color, this wine has a spicy character, particularly suited to aging, as its structure, provided by the tannins, is unique and ideal for aging. In the early 19th century, Thomas Reynolds migrated to the Alentejo region to pursue the cork business. Three generations later, his grandson, John Reynolds, acquired Herdade do Mouchão for wine production. In 1901, the property's first vineyards were planted and, in 1929, construction began on a traditional winery and distillery, which still produces Mouchão Brandy today. Today, Herdade do Mouchão continues to be managed and worked by descendants of the original family, and the entire winemaking process remains virtually unchanged, preserving the traditional hand-harvesting and fermentation of the grapes in stone vats, using foot-treading. It is these techniques, and Herdade do Mouchão's entire history of success, that make this winemaking company so close to the way wines were made in the past. 2009 Harvest Type of Red Wine Producer: Herdade do Mouchão Country of Origin: Portugal Region: Alentejo Capacity: 75cl Alcohol Content (%): 14,5 Serve at 12-18°C
