A fine manuscript page from the Khamseh by the Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi and is written in Persian calligraphy.  The Khamseh is a collection of five epic poems by the 12th-century Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi, known as "The Quintet". It includes the didactic poem Makhzan al-Asrar ("Treasury of Secrets") and four romantic works: Khosrow and Shirin, Layli and Majnun, Haft Paykar ("The Seven Beauties"), and Eskandar Nameh ("The Tale of Alexander"). The collection is a masterpiece of Persian literature, famous for its romantic stories and influential style, and has been a popular subject for Persian miniature painting. 

The folio is in very good condition and a nice example with a very attractive layout of blue cartouches dividing the folio and gold clouds dividing the text. The reverse has red cartouche dividing the text. As far as we can make out, the text appears to be alluding to the 'settling down' of a City in Yemen that is in turmoil.
