This $10 ten dollar Canadian gold coin was struck in 1914 to be retained by the Canadian treasury as part of the country's gold reserve. Due to the First World War breaking out later that year most of the $5 and $10 coins were melted down to be preserved as bars of bullion. A few of the coins were stashed away and were not discovered again until the 2000's when a small part of the hoard was sold off in 2012 as the rest were melted. Struck at the Ottawa mint in .900 gold the coin weighs 16.7 grams and is graded as MS63. A scarce coin for the serious collector.
