Megalodon - Fossil tooth - Carcharocles Megalodon - 10.8 cm - 7.5 cm

In this lot: A beautiful dagger like Megalodon tooth from Sukabumi, Java, Indonesia. This is a lower anterior tooth. This tooth sat in the front of the lower jaw of the biggest shark that ever lived. The tooth was used to pierce into the flesh of it's prey and hold on to it while the teeth in the upper jaw would shred into the meat. There are only 3 anterior teeth in the lower jaw, which makes them a little bit rarer than lateral teeth. There are 15 lateral teeth per side of the sharks jaw. Front anterior teeth look like daggers and are always a joy to look at! Size: 10,8 cm Quality: There are no repairs or restorations done on this piece! The tooth is completely intact without any damages. The serrations and tip are very sharp and have no chipping or other imperfections. It has a beautiful sandy warm color with some darker tones on the edges. The bourlette has a complementing brown color and is intact for the most part. A lot of Indonesian teeth lack most of the bourlette. The enamel on the front is very smooth and shiny. The enamel on the back goes down all the way to the root. Also something that is a bit rarer. The root has a fitting color to the tooth, which makes this a very nice piece for any collection! Due to import tax and high risks in losing parcels will NOT ship to United States
