Works of Shotaro Akiyama 1960-1965 (Signed). Shotaro Akiyama was one of the photographers active from the postwar period through the 1950s, preceding the new wave in photography brought by Yasuhiro Ishimoto, Kazutaka Narahara, Teruaki Higashimatsu, and others in the 1960s. His representative works include portraits of celebrities, female nudes, and floral still lifes. Together with Takamasa Inamura, who also gained renown for his nude works, he established a photography studio immediately after the war. In the 1950s, he became a founding member of the “Nika-kai” alongside contemporaries like Shoji Otake, Yuji Hayata, and Tadahiko Hayashi, making significant contributions to the promotion and development of postwar Japanese photography.
