De potten zijn met de hand beschilderd. 
De tekst op de pot, 

"SALVIA OFFICINALIS", verwijst naar de botanische naam voor salie.

"ANTHEMIS NOBILIS is de botanische naam voor Roomse kamille, een plant die traditioneel wordt gebruikt voor medicinale doeleinden.

LAVANDULA SPICA is een botanische naam voor een soort lavendel.

Apothekerspotten zoals deze werden gebruikt voor het bewaren van kruiden, zalven en andere farmaceutische preparaten. 
Hoewel het traditionele Delfts blauw meestal blauw-witte decoraties heeft, zijn er ook varianten met meerdere kleuren, zoals deze potten
Delfts aardewerk is een algemene term voor Nederlands tinglazuur aardewerk, ook bekend als Delfts blauw. 
De potten zijn een voorbeeld van Delfts aardewerk, dat sinds de 16e eeuw wordt geproduceerd als alternatief voor Chinees porselein.
