A very fine old 4/4 violin, labeled Carlo Giuseppe Testore in Contrada larga di Milano Segno dell'Aquila 1709. The instrument is in ready to play condition with no visible cracks, new boxwood set up, new bridge and new strings. The violin has an excellent medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll. Very rich golden brown color varnish. The whole length of the violin is 591 mm and the back 361 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 169 mm; middle bouts: 117 mm; lower bouts: 210 mm. The sound is very good, powerful, deep, rich, suitable for soloist.
