The Vatican's Euroset 2002 box is the first official box of euro coins, issued in "Bright Universal" (BU) quality, containing the eight coins from 1 cent to 2 euros. These coins represent the effigy of Pope John Paul II and are very popular with collectors because of their low circulation. The numismatic value of a complete box in good condition can vary considerably and tends to be much higher than the nominal value of the parts.

Characteristics of the box:

Content: The eight coins of the Euro range (1 cent to 2 euros).

Year: 2002, the first year of issue of euro coins for the Vatican.

Quality: Universal Gloss (BU), i.e. the parts never circulated and were produced with a special treatment for superior brilliance.

Effigy: The pieces show the effigy of Pope John Paul II.

Draw: The draw is very low, which makes the box rare.

Value: The collectable value is much higher than the face value of the pieces due to the rarity of the box.

Occasionally, two different bidders may show up in the bidding history with the same bid amount. This occurs when one user's bid is exactly the same as an automatic (maximum) bid placed by another user earlier. Since the auto-bid was placed first, this takes preference. The bidding history will show both bids, with the auto-bid ranked as the higher of the two.
