- John Collier (1850–1934) was a prominent English artist and writer associated with the Pre-Raphaelite movement, celebrated for his richly detailed and symbolically charged portraiture and historical paintings. He studied art in Paris and Munich and became known for his meticulous technique and an academic approach that blended Pre-Raphaelite aesthetics with Victorian tastes. Collier was also a respected portraitist, depicting many notable figures of his era.
