Vintage Gentleman's IWC(International Watch Company) open face Silver 0.800 pocket watch chronometer, made by I.W.C. (International Watch Company) in Switzerland in 1928. Dial: The silver coloured dial has black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions, and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial has blued hands and is signed: “International Watch Co” as visible in photographs there is some rubbing to the IWC lettering. The watch glass is in good condition. Movement: The high grade 16 jewel movement has a swan neck regulator and wolf teeth winding. The movement is in working order however we cannot guarantee accuracy as it is an antique watch. The movement is numbered: 861716 which denotes manufacture to be circa 1928. Case: This silver 0.800 grade case with engine turned decoration to bezel, middle and back of case vacant shield shaped cartouche. All the hinges are strong and closing tightly. The interior of case back case is hallmarked for silver with the 0.800 silver stamp and signed: IWC. The outer side of the cuvette is engraved and signed: “Chronometre, International Watch Co” Signed: I.W.C. - Swiss Made – 1928 Diameter: 48 mm – Weight: 70.6 g History IWC: All IWC-movements have a history and most of them also have a mark. Nowadays usually the "Probus Scafusia", in the past many others were used also. People who are familiar with the manufacturer know, that IWC Schaffhausen has records of the reference number, the caliber, the case material, the delivery date and the buyer, ever since 1882. The company name can be found (English italics) on all calibers by Jones (with movement numbers 1 to around 26,000), the Seeland-caliber (circa 26,000-61,000), caliber 28/29 a bascule pilier (100,000 to 120,000) as well as the early calibers 32, 33, 34, 35, 59 and 60 with very low movement numbers like 33, 86 616 or something like 620.
