Limited edition of 1 to 250 copies, this , signed by the artist on the justification page, on Arches paper; folio; 50 original Chagall lithographs, printed by Mourlot, loose, as issued in the original printed covers; presented in the original cream parchment box with gilt title on the cover and spine, a superb example. A superb example of this limited edition of Shakespeare's The Tempest, featuring 50 original Chagall lithographs.

 At 88 years of age, Chagall produced this evocative interpretation of The Tempest. 

The illustrations add a new dimension to a much-loved text and combine Shakespeare's themes of magic and illusion with his own supernatural imagery. 

Just as The Tempest was one of Shakespeare's last plays, this wonderful series of lithographs marks a "farewell" to Chagall's frenetic creative output for such large-scale projects. Cramer.


Due to its weight, care and insurance, the shipping price will be a little higher.

The book is in excellent condition, with many books in the box that I've collected over time, and otherwise, like new. Nothing is noticeable in this condition.
