Astonishing Dendritic Allargentum Silver after Dyscrasite in Calcite Matrix- 33 g
Allargentum-Silver after Dyscrasite" refers to a mineral specimen from the Bouismas Mine in Bou Azer, Morocco, where native silver and allargentum (a silver-antimony mineral) have replaced the original dyscrasite crystals. These specimens are prized for their aesthetic, dendritic formations and lustrous, dark gray to silver colors.
Location: The specimens come from the Bouismas Mine in the Bou Azzer district of Morocco. This is part of the Draa-Tafilalet region in the Ouarzazate province.
Mineral formation: The allargentum and silver have formed a "pseudomorph," meaning they have taken the outer shape of the original mineral. In this case, the crystals of dyscrasite have been replaced by this new metallic mixture.
Appearance: The specimens often feature spectacular, lustrous, and dendritic (branching) growths. The crystals are metallic and range in color from dark gray to silver.
Significance: Allargentum is a rare mineral, and these Moroccan finds from 2015 are considered some of the best examples of the species, particularly those with sharp, well-defined crystals.
