Early XXth Century pure linen bed linen with G.S. initials - Textile - 3 m - 2.3 m

This bed linen is one of 2 which purely by accident I was able to buy. I was on my way back from the Aquitaine ( near Bordeaux ) from viewing a trousseaux ,when I noticed on the side of the road and crudely written sign on carton, "VIDE DE GRENIER" AUJOURD'HUI" ( emptying of loft ) The loft was not just an ordinary loft, but the top floor of a Chateau. Everything had been brought down and displayed on tresle tables. In amongst other pieces and partially hidden were two bed linen and 9 napkins. Nobody appeared to be interested . After I had bought the linen I happen to meet the owners and they told me about the linen which had seen better days as it was very soiled after having been stored for decennia in the open air. The linen came from the owner's Great Grandparents on his mother's side The initials are George & Simone. We had it washed, starched and ironed and has come up "trump" again; It is a particular heavy linen. The top has 3 embroidered bouquets of open roses all achieved with creating folding petals by embroidery in high soft relief. The buds particularly have been so well embroidered and finished. To create the depth of the roses pinhead embroidery has been applied. In between the 3 bouquets is open thread work. The initials George & Simone again have been embroidered in high relief. The edging has a simple open thread work. What is particularly good about this bed linen that it is 2m30 wide and will easily deck a bed at 1m80 width. A one off bed linen and thus rare and in such excellent condition.
