Rare hand-painted commemorative plate, made by Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum in 1945. Issued by the C.N.V. (Commissie Noodvoorziening – Emergency Relief Commission) to mark the post-Liberation relief efforts in the Netherlands. The plate was presented to Soldier H.J.C. Raaymakers as a token of appreciation for his service. Central motif with three heraldic shields, a banner inscribed “C.N.V.”, and the dates 5 May – 28 July 1945, referring to the liberation and subsequent emergency operations. Decorated with a richly detailed Delft blue floral border in cobalt glaze. The back bears the handwritten inscription: “Ter herinnering aangeboden door het C.N.V. P.2 aan den Soldaat H.J.C. Raaymakers” alongside the MAKKUM Royal Tichelaar shield mark and artist’s signature. Dimensions: • Diameter: 34 cm • Height: approx. 4 cm Material: Faience / tin-glazed earthenware Period: 1945 Origin: Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum, Netherlands Condition: Very good vintage condition. No age-related edge wear (see photos), no cracks or restorations. A historically significant and rare collector’s item — a tangible piece of Dutch post-war history, crafted by the country’s oldest pottery workshop.
