Gerard Boersma (1976) - Nocturne: Blue And Gold (painting of woman enjoying painting by James McNeill Whistler)
Gerard Boersma is known for his paintings of people in museums looking at famous paintings.
This painting of 60 x 30 cm shows a woman enjoying a painting by James McNeill Whistler. It shows the old Battersea bridge in London. Whistler wanted to capture the mood and feeling of a moonlit scene on the Thames, using musical terms like 'nocturne' to emphasize mood over narrative and a limited palette to create a sense of harmony and stillness.
The work dates from 2025 and is made with acrylic on panel. Signed on the back and front and comes with a label of the artist as well as a Certificate Of Authenticity.
