Descrizione

Elegante e raro cavatappi a pantografo in ottone e acciaio, marchiato WIER sul corpo, prodotto da Arthur Marshall Wier, rinomato inventore e produttore londinese attivo tra la fine del XIX e l’inizio del XX secolo.

Il meccanismo a pantografo (o “concertina”) consente l’estrazione del tappo con minimo sforzo, sfruttando la trazione progressiva delle leve articolate.
Questo modello, realizzato in ottone con finitura satinata e vite in ferro brunito, rappresenta una delle versioni più raffinate del periodo, caratterizzata da grande precisione meccanica e ottima resa funzionale.


Note storiche

Arthur Marshall Wier fu uno dei più importanti produttori di cavatappi dell’età vittoriana.
Operò a Londra tra il 1880 e il 1910, brevettando numerosi modelli innovativi, tra cui versioni a leva, a pantografo e ad elica assistita.
Il suo nome è associato al brevetto britannico n. 2064 del 1884, che introdusse miglioramenti strutturali nel sistema a forbice.
Gli esemplari originali WIER sono oggi molto ricercati dai collezionisti per l’eleganza della costruzione, la precisione delle giunzioni e l’uso di materiali nobili come l’ottone.


Stato di conservazione

Ottime condizioni generali. Vite integra e ancora funzionale, pantografo fluido e completo di tutte le giunzioni originali.
Patina autentica e coerente con l’età, nessuna rottura né saldatura.
